Cynthia Perkins Roberts Youth Empowerment Series
The Cynthia Perkins-Roberts Youth Empowerment Series is a collective of events intended to empower and uplift the youth in our community. Through these programs we are leading critical conversations through culturally relevant, dynamic and interactive sessions that educate and elevate youths’ awareness of self, society and institutional frameworks.
GIRLZ TALK
Girlz Talk was developed to address the social-emotional, physical, and academic development of girls aged 11-18. Using a gendered-focus approach, GirlzTalk designs and implements programs to address gender disparities faced by girls on a local and national level. Girlz Talk annually serves 500+ girls in the Long Island and New York metropolitan area where participants have access to seminars and workshops discussing financial literacy, mental health and wellness, and academic and workforce development.
BOYZ N2 MEN
BoyzN2Men is an initiative that was designed to address the most critical issues faced by boys of color ages 11-24 in the Long Island and New York metropolitan area. The BoyzN2Men initiative is guided by research that shows that boys of color in underserved communities face systemic challenges that limit their opportunities and threaten their potential. These barriers include, but are not limited to, educational disparities, mental health struggles, and economic hardship. BoyzN2 Men is dedicated to empowering boys of color through culturally relevant programming, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities. Our holistic approach ensures that they receive the academic, emotional, social, and professional support needed to break intergenerational cycles of hardship and step confidently into leadership roles. The program offers three annual events: BoyzN2Men Conference, Colleology, and the Live Life, Move Strong: Fitness & Wellness Summit
Continuing The Conversation
#YOUMATTER: Young, Informed,Empowered
Through the Continuing the Conversation: #YouMatter conference, we equip and empower young students with the skills needed to understand the power of their voice. In these sessions we create a safe space for students to express how they feel about the challenges they face in the world. Led by with trained specialists, these conversations are informative and impactful for all attendees.
Collegeology
Collegeology is a one-day power session dedicated to help students and parents navigate through the college admissions process. We not only focus on college entrance exams and college essay prep, students have an opportunity hone their interviewing and networking skills.
Girlz Book Club
Book Talk offers middle and high school girls an opportunity to engage in powerful, thought-provoking youth-led discussions about educational and social issues. Book Talk opens up the chance for girls to connect key works of literature to the issues that matter most to them.
